know our apostle 2

Loving friends in Jesus,

When we boast about our origin from St Thomas the Apostle, many, even educated people consider it a lie.
Here are a few saints and writers who speak about Thomas’ mission in Kerala, India.

Dispelling all shadows of doubt, Pope John Paul II declared, “From Jerusalem the Church spread to Antioch, to Rome and beyond. It reached Ehiopea in the South, Scythia in the North and India in the East, where tradition has it that St Thomas the Apostle went in the year 52 A.D. and founded Churches in South India” (Ecclsia in Asia 9).

Already in the first century Christianity had spread in India!

Other Proofs:

Acts of Thomas (180-230)
Clement of Alexandria (d.225)
Doctrine of the Aopstles (3c)
Origen 185254)
Eusebius of Caesaria, Ephrem teh syrithian.
Ephrem the Syrian 4c
Gregory of Nazianzus 4c
Ambrose of Milan 3974c
St Jerome (d.420)
St Gaudentius 5c.
St Paulinus of Nola d.431
St Gregory of Tours d.594
Isidore of Seville of Spain d.630
St Bede the venerable

All these authors speaks about St Thomas and his mission in India.

Among the Indian sources two important sources are : Ramban Pattu and MargamKali Pattu.

But the most eloquent and irrefutable proofs are: You and me, the communitty called St Thomas Christians!

When people tell you that the St Thomas tradition is a myth or legend be ready to give proofs.

May God Bless you!    Fr John Kudiyiruppil
